Very expressive fruit aroma with outstanding mature berries, forest fruit joined with delicate hints of coffee and toast coming from the barrels. From the start, it's a remarkable expression of Carmenere thanks to the typical fruit like plums, blackberries and some spicy touches. The tannins are polished and long with a medium body at the end.

Bright deep purple in colour, on the nose the Castaño Ecológico Barrica Monastrell delivers powerful aromas of blueberry, blackberry, violet and spices that follow on the palate. Along with this, there is a smoky candied touch and black peppery background from its brief ageing in oak. The aftertaste is long and silky.

Of the sixty Champagne crus chosen to produce this emblematic cuvée, three are pillars of the Brut Réserve style. Oger: Grand Cru Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs gives it its fleshy and generous notes. Ambonnay: Grand Cru Pinot Noir from the Montagne de Reims is synonymous with power, structure and fruity notes. Verneuil: Meunier from the Vallée de la Marne ensures its balance and smooth texture. On the nose discover freshly baked brioche, roasted notes and ripe, sun-kissed fruits - mango, apricot, mirabelle plum - as well as dried fruits, pistachio and almond. The palate texture evokes the crunch of a layer of creamy nougat, with fleshy fruits like plums and cherries. The smoothness is provided by the selection of reserve wines. Blends of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon are one of the most challenging and exciting wine styles to produce. Hawke's Bay, along with parts of the California's Napa Valley, was identified by the U.K's Decanter magazine, as one of the few New World wine regions that could challenge Bordeaux in the production of such wines.

A fuller bodied Chardonnay balanced by gentle, fresh acidity and a spine of slate-like minerality. Fresh zesty citrus and citrus blossom notes are to the fore with riper, richer stonefruit underlying and providing extra depth. The fruit is overlaid with complexities of roasted nuts, toasted brioche, and a hint of struck flint and gun smoke. Already drinking exceptionally well, with age the wine will develop more complex, savoury nuttiness and will gain breadth and richness on the palate.

The McDonald Series wines are an expression of both their fruit and the vision of their namesake winemaker. The finest free run juice was barrel fermented in predominantly older French oak to produce this finely textured, elegant Chardonnay. Vibrant citrus and stonefruit flavours are overlaid with subtle creamy oak and complexities of toasted hazelnut and brioche.
